Englehard silver
Englehard poured 10-oz .999 silver bars
Englehard poured 10-oz .999 fine silver bars were first produced by the Englehard Corporation in the mid-1970s. As demand grew, Englehard switched to an automated system that produced struck 10-oz silver bars.
The struck silver bars carry a highly reflective finish and clearly defined raised lettering. On the older poured bars, however, the Englehard name, the description, and the identification number are recessed, having been stamped into the bars, as has been the traditional method of hallmarking silver (and gold) for centuries.
Englehard stopped turning out all silver bars, 100-oz as well as 10-oz, in the mid-1980s, and today Englehard 10-oz silver bars are available only in the secondary market, which is rarely. Investors wanting 10-oz silver bars will probably have to choose between either Sunshine Minting 10-oz silver bars or Wall Street Mint 10-oz silver bars, which are the two premier bars presently being produced.
